Chancellor Patten welcomes new Canadians at Citizenship Ceremony

Chancellor Patten spoke alongside President Gertler at a Citizenship Ceremony in Convocation Hall, helping to welcome some 500 new Canadians as fellow citizens. Professor Maydianne Andrade, Vice-Dean of Faculty Affairs and Equity at UTSC, also spoke, sharing her childhood experience moving to Canada with her family from Jamaica. The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and M.P. for York South–Weston, also attended to help celebrate the occasion.
